This 1925 GE Cup special is moving along, 2 years in, cash flow permitting should be on the road sometime next year.

Looks great Bill, the cup is such a pretty body. What were you planning for finish on the body? Bare alloy, polished alloy, painted or fabric covered?
Bet you're looking forward to getting out on the road.
It looks like the cursor was in between some of the quotes when you hit 'Insert into post', so it has gone a bit strange and left some of the pictures in the attachments box below. The benefit of this forum is that there is no timeout on editing your post so you can go back in and edit it if it doesn't come out right when posted.
If you hit the black button below the thread i think it is 'new reply', rather than the reply button on the individual post it will give a clean reply box with no quotes in it, which tends to make it a bit easier.

Thanks for the kind comments about my Cup project and the advice about posting.havent yet got the formatting aspect right yet but doing it from this iPhone is perhaps not the best idea.reading posts is Ok but making them is pretty clunky. I may have to go back to my laptop.as regards body finishing, current plan is to go for the patinated scuffed alloy look with black wings( when I can afford them!)might consider going going for a paint finish but will not go down the fabric look , just mainly to be different as it's a special rather than a faithful replica.all the best

Fantastic Bill, I was sort of hoping you were going to say that. Though I am a huge fan of fabric coverings, seeing yours in the bare ali made me think it would look really good finished like that (unpolished). Something a bit unusual in a good way. I don't know if GE ever skinned a Cup in Ali, but it seems entirely plausible as something that they might have done if a customer requested it.

Given that GE skinned the Brooklands in alloy I think
perhaps a few Cups could have been alloy covered.
I understand about 2000+ Cups were manufactured between
1925 and early 1929.
There is a slight flaw in my scheme though as normally
The tail cover would have been covered , in my case it will
Need to match the reasonable metal finish on the rest of the body.
Next job is to tidy the garage in preparation for building up a
gear box with new bearings , seals etc, and Andes gear set.
The block kindly sourced by Malcom P is in for boring so things are
Proceeding. The return of the windscreen will be a momentous day!
Plus working on prototyping replica GE dash/ bodyside badges, coming along nicely.
