Quick question. How do you get replies out of the quote box?

Like this! by inserting a horizontal line to separate the quote and the reply.

There shouldn't be a need for the horizontal line (actually in the way that you posted last Dave the line served no purpose as your reply appeared below the quote box as apposed to Ians reply above, which is inside the box, but with a line between).
Once you have hit reply you should get the reply box. This has the quotes inside the same grey outlined quote boxes that they appear in when you view the thread. If you scroll to the very bottom of this reply box you will see the bottom of the last 'qoute' box, with a space underneath, and if you set your cursor below this box, and type, your reply appears below with no line required.
The easiest way to avoid this is to go to the bottom of the thread, and click the black 'new reply' button, instead of the reply button on the individual post. This way you get a clean reply boxes without all of the previous replies in it. You can copy and paste a post in if you want to reference what someone has said before. If you're feeling more adventurous, you can click reply on the post that you want to include, and carefully delete the previously quoted posts (As I have done above), leaving the ones that you wanted to reference.
Hope that all makes sense, please do let me know if screenshots will help make things clearer.
Happy posting

You can also use the new reply or quick reply functions, your post will then appear like this with no quotes.
Edit; Timothy has just beaten me to it!
