Great news fellow forumers, this exibit has just won the 2024 Turner Prize.
If you had thought of chucking an old table cloth over your Austin Seven a bit sooner, Nick, you might have been 25 Grand better off!

Brilliant PR coup. No matter how relevant or irrelevant any individual “concept car” might be, the press attention they pulled off with this one would have cost many millions.

Andrew, a magnficent installation.
The juxtaposition of the clothed versus the naked Austin is a statement on the fruitlessness of man's existence within the wider cosmic arena. It reminds us of the fundamental truth that spouting nonsensical b*ll*cks gives credence to artistic endeavour and leads the gullible towards the light of understanding.

One point of art is to get people talking and discussing the subject, on these pages the age old question "what is art?"
In that way it has worked wonderfully well, a forum of (mainly) old, (mainly) bearded (mainly) men has spent three pages discussing art works. So IMHO that is a good thing.
I think it maybe best that we stick to the old cars and not criticising what others do and is of no harm to anyone else, (apart from raising the blood pressure of some on here!)
(Coming at this as someone who has an art college training & degree with a family history of painting, sculpture, jewellery and other arts.)

Don’t know about the rest of you but to me art is something thing you enjoy looking at,say Constable painting,or more like a BSA Gold Star, early E type convertible , even a 1926-7 chummy to me is a sort of design icon.Must be loads more ?

There are so many underlying themes and so much cultural history surrounding the current Turner prizewinner that even a pedantic old git like me is totally unqualified to offer any criticism beyond a gut reaction. I did read quite a lot about the piece in todays Grauniad which was quite enlightening.
I wouldn't buy it though as it's not to my taste and, even if I had the money and storage space, I can think of more interesting vehicles to fill it...

Lest there be any doubt - I started this thread as nothing more than a bit of tongue in cheek amusement relating to a motoring theme. If anyone is offended by the poking of fun - my apologies.
