Just sorting out a two blade fan ready to put on my van which with the recored radiator runs quite cool!
I found two in my spares shed but was surprised to find they were slightly different by about 3/16” in depth. Did Austin make two sizes of fan or is one a reproduction part. Just curious.

Hi Steve,
Sorry that is a trick of the camera as both are pretty much identical apart from the depth. The deeper one has no markings, whilst the shallow one has 1A 253 in raised letters on the nose. Which leads me to believe that the former is reproduction and the latter is genuine Austin.
The only possible effect of using the thicker one is that it will be very slightly closer to the radiator!
I don't think that a small change in length will have any noticeable effect. However, the fan turns quite fast (faster than the crankshaft) so it's worth checking that it's reasonably well balanced. If necessary file off the heavy end, a bit like doing a lawnmower blade.
