Can anyone ID this engine.. 1A887

Been late night bidding again !!!

Can anyone help ID this engine, was sold as a austin seven 1930 but looks later, the other lots included dixi parts so maybe ... I googled A1887 and dint find anything.

It is later.
The engine number should be on the top of the crankcase just in front of the oil pressure guage outlet.

Looks like a 3 bearing case to me... (but what do I know)

Hi

It has a high compression head from Mid 1936 onwards. It's rubber mounted so post 1930. Is there a bolt head on the side of the case on the manifold side ? If so it's 3 bearing. The engine number is the clincher, 1A 887 is just a foundry casting number.

The strengthening rib half-way down the side of the crankcase identifies it as a 3-bearing (post Jul 1936) engine.

however seemed a good basis for some spares and wasnt silly money...

Don't separate the centre main housings from the crankcase, keep them together. They're match machined and while all looking the same shouldn't be juggled - centre main disasters usually quickly follow!!
