That reminds me,Colin , that at that '63 Beaulieu I (with my Super Acc. special) was parked between Kens rubber tyre mudguarded "trials" sports and the Ulster of one B. Canning-- exalted company. Whatever happened to that little spartan special?

I cannot claim 60 years of ownership but I first saw my 1928 Chummy when my frend Tony Johns owned it. Here is a picture of the car outside my parents house in Aspendale Melbourne in 1960.

I knew and loved this car after many adventures in it with Tony.

When it came up for sale 15 years ago I just had to own it  Big Grin

These Austin’s do tend to hang around.

Hi Ian,

I can only apologise. It must have been mayhem, being parked next to Klipspringer and the 5 kids that came with it.

I'm sad to say that it was sold to someone in Germany, just before the historic trials scene kicked off again. None of the kids were in a position to take the car on, at the time. Dad tried to reconnect with the new owner, but I'm afraid that the much-loved car has disappeared into the ether

I've got to go to work now, but will post a picture on here when I get a chance.

As promised, I've attached some pictures of our beloved Klipspringer.

It was built in 1960, when the new 750 trials formula was announced - with the help of a neighbour George Cropton (who gets a mention in the 1963 Beaulieu program). It was yellow, as in those days, the 750 MC had group colours, and the North Herts' was yellow and black. And I thought the rubber tyre rear mudguards were a genius idea. Don't think I ever saw that on another trials car.

I'm going through memory overload, at the moment. And Klipspringer was perfect for family fun.

My late uncle bought my Chummy from Barry Clarke in 1959 - here's a photo of Barry driving it in 1958:

Dad bought ours as a jumble of parts in 1960, unfortunately I only have a later picture, probably from the 70s

After 60 years  I've recently been re-united with my Pearl cabriolet, the first car in my ownership. Sadly no early pictures survive.

Cheating slightly by 1965 I'd progressed (?) to a 2 seater Arrow which made it to the third Beaulieu.

Quite a thread you sparked off here Dunford junior---- perhaps someone experienced in these matters could offer a piece in the Association Mag on the early 750 trialling scene?
I believe the few remaining bits of my '63 Beaulieu entry ( Super Accessories special BGP53 ) are now living with Nick lettington??

And how come David C -- who I recall looked just like that above pic at the Phoenix where we first met is still recognisable when most of us have awfully deteriorated--?

In January it’s 50 years since I bought my first seven. Still have it in the middle of a long refurbish. I’ve acquired three others along the way. So I’m a relative newcomer, but sevens in my family go back to the 1930s. My grandfather, a 19th century motorist owned a Ruby, I think BTN77 but as far as I know no longer exists.
