Here is the situation on my own car, Robert.

It is fitted with semi Girling backplates just now, if I reverted to an Austin brake system I would have the same issue that Chris is anticipating.

FWIW I crawled underneath this afternoon and I reckon the issue could be solved by doing some fairly minor mischief to the body flange. I really need the axle in place so I can judge exactly where.

I have the same problem on my 2 year old CC body, just massaged the metal a little to make sufficient room ....
