I also agree with John. If a number of electrical items all go bad or act strange at the same time it usually mean a bad or poor earth. As our sevens were designed with earth return through the chassis and metal body. Apart from the earthing strap between body and chassis also check the earthing battery lead.

If the engine is rubber mounted earthing can be a problem. A pal once noticed that the choke cable on his Austin 7 was hot and it turned out that it was acting as the main earth.
Sorry to hear that your trip is not as originally planned but it's better than the car letting you down when you are between Cape Wrath and John O Groats!

Well we have finally made it back to our home in Kent having covered 2420 miles in total. It has to be said we have not experienced the same sense of achievement that we had when we completed the ‘22 Eurotour quickly followed by Moreton.
However we have seen areas of England and Scotland that we have never visited before and all made possible by completing this trip.
We made a point of sticking religiously to the original route planned for Ruby, so all A and B roads and definitely no motorways!
Whilst we did have few clear dry days further south, the weather in the north was somewhat less than kind with days of heavy rain or drizzle and low lying clouds blocking out the views.
Travelling down from The Highlands we did pass three A7s travelling in the opposite direction, one of the occupants being the unmistakable figure of RD of Scotchland. It would have been rather special to have been in Ruby as it would have been an amazing coincidence.
I’d like to thank my good wife for being an impeccable navigator, displaying great patience and tenacity!!
I’d also like to thank Peter & Grace in Inverness for their hospitality and Bob and Jan and their friends in Cornwall for looking after us so well whilst in Cornwall.
And finally a huge thank you to all those who have supported the charity Parkinson’s UK I had set up for the trip, albeit a trip planned to have been completed in a very reluctant Ruby.
