Zenith 26VA question
#1
Hello friends!

I have a question. Please have a look on the attached foto.

On my carburettor Zenith 26VA the distance sleeve No.22 and the matching screw No.26 are missing. I am able to build the distance sleeve myself, a friend gave me it's exact measurements, but I don't know what size of screw I need to buy.

I assume, it's 3/16 x 1 BSF, is that correct? I'm not sure...

Can somebody help me out in here? Thank you very much in advance for your support!

Oliver

I regret that I don't know what size bolt it is, but it's probably metric.

I'll have a look at mine over the weekend and get back to you. It's off the car and on a shelf in the garage.

@ David: Thank you very much for your tip, I didn't expect that it could be metric. I will have a look..

@ Reckless: That would be very nice, many thanks also to you!

Hi

See this article from the Dorset A7 club website. Zenith were fond of metric fasteners. http://www.da7c.co.uk/technical_torque_a...ettor.html

It's  6mm Hurv, I have my assy off the car currently as it has a lot of wear and the choke flap wasn't closing properly. Now I'm really struggling to get it reassembled correctly and back in place! Are the parts for the strangler assy available does anyone know?

Zenith carburettors supplied to Austins had metric fittings. However similar Zenith carbs supplied to Ford had imperial fittings.
The float bowl screws on Austins are 7mm Ford are 5/16” BSF. This I believe is the reason there are so many float bowls with damaged threads 7mm being so close to 5/16.

Hello friends, thank you for your help! You are right, the screw is a metric M6. I yet only need the distance sleeve, but because it's nowhere available, so a friend will make it for me.
