What have you done today with your Austin Seven
I had a knock on an engine, last year, that I eventually attributed to a bent dynamo spindle making the gear run off, very slightly. It was cured (not by me, I hasten to add) by adding an extra gasket under the dynamo housing.

Missed it Duncan. We were still on our way back from Scotland. Was there much there?

Saturday saw the MGCC Inter Reg nav rally, that started from Westons Cider at Much Marcle. Pictured PWA7C entries are XX7437, messrs Hawker and Bromley, who whizzed round the Herefordshire lanes to claim a convincing 9th place. Team Bradshaw in RT2609 claimed 6th place. The third PWA7C entry for various reasons turned up in a product of Gorton, not Longbridge. The vast and impressive 19.6 would be the ideal machine for driving from Usk to Ullswater without ever having to change gear more than twice, but is not the most suitable beast for trying to thread round very narrow lanes. We managed 11th place, no don't ask. Some of the country roads cause crews to wonder whether they are doing a trial, rather than a road event. As we waited for results Westons was jammed full of folk from a nearby re-enactment, with lots of cavalry as well as foot soldiers in chain mail bashing each other with swords. Rally teams look very quiet and sensible in comparison, we also drink much less cider mid afternoon!

T'was our monthly get-together for classic cars in Alès today. A very nice day thankfully as we've had a lot of rain over the past two weeks. Here's a selection of the attendees - probably about 200 cars in all.

[Image: 20240505-101550.jpg] The RP attracts a bit of interest, as usual.

[Image: 20240505-101826.jpg] - a very nice and very big Hotchkiss. Guess what year...

[Image: 20240505-101953.jpg] - A peugeot 504 coupé cabriolet.

[Image: 20240505-104244.jpg] a Simca Vedette V8 - there were two of them today.

[Image: 20240505-104330.jpg] very tidy Opel Manta SR

[Image: 20240505-104419.jpg] it's summer so the Méharis all come out of hibernation

[Image: 20240505-104544.jpg] A Cadiddlyack Eldorado. They really are massive!

The other Vedette - this one unrestored and an earlier model. I believe they use a Ford Flathead V8

Reckless, seems fitting that your 4th picture bears a strong resemblance (from the front at least) to the photo that you posted when you first opened this thread.

Peugeots?
