I managed a mile-a-minute in my 1937 van once - Leicester Forest East Services to Newport Pagnell Services is around 50 miles, and I managed to average 60mph from stop to stop. I forget why I was in a hurry, but I don't think I ever managed it again!

Presumably the speedo would have to be reading somewhere 'north' of 60 to achieve that as an average? (I have never seen mine register above 50 - even downhill!)
