For glorious names this one takes some beating. It is a genuine letter from our ambassador in Moscow in 1943 and the last paragraph makes me cry with laughter any time I read it.

On a film shoot in Chile, we had a fixer whose last name with Victorhugo. The "H" was silent. I guess that some ancestor was enough of a fan of French literature to change their surname. In Seattle, in the phone book, there used to be a gentleman named "Harry Goon". Of course, I have little to complain about. "Volkstorf" in german translates as "people of the bog".
