As always practice on a scrap. That is what I did, used a magnet to hold it in place, although magnets and heat don't love each other.

Team,
I am relatively new on your forum, but I had to post today. I am bursting with excitement. Today at 2pm my Austin seven Opal arrives at my home in NJ, USA! My Father, Harry Law of the SA7C fame, gave me this Opal when I first passed my driving test at age 17. That was 43 years ago. Dad did a great job fettling the car so it could be shipped over. Now it’s down to me to carry on the tradition. Muchos butterflies! I’ll post some pics when it arrives.

Enjoy driving it again Chris!

Emma Airey, Head of RH Insurance, says:
"I'm really sorry to hear that Mr Harris was unhappy with the way his claim was handled recently. I'm personally working with the A7CA to produce an RH Insurance claims guide for Members which will be shared on this Forum and within the Association's Magazine. This guide will contain various points re policy wording and primary points of contact within A7CA which will enable Members to raise and/or escalate any queries they may have regarding claims under the RH Insurance scheme for A7CA Members. Furthermore, the A7CA is now looking to appoint a dedicated Insurance Representative. Details will be announced by the Association in due course".

I certainly will not deal with RH insurance. Not long ago tried to insure my 1972 VW Camper. It came back that I was too much of a liability, or words to that effect because I had not got a modern day car. Can't remember on proposal form ticking a box to say I had a modern day car. or even if there was a box to tick. Got in touch explaining I had such a vehicle, even giving reg number. Heard nothing back, so got in touch saying better luck next time, heard nothing. Seemed to not want my business, so they can whistle.

It's a bit like a full dress rehearsal. Go through everything as best you can, finish with it recorded and send the image up to the Editing Suite, relax. Then not long afterwards, notes from the director, or is Ruairidh the choreographer? "Wonderful, looks good... But can we just do it again, from the top, completely different methods and above all, no blue lube!" OK, hope this is what was intended, have to say that it does look much better and was far more convincing to assemble. So yes, surfaces on the crankcase and the sump utterly clean and dry, that's the way to do it. And thanks to Jamie who managed to pull a fresh and properly shaped gasket out of his magician's hat.
