We get the occasional field mouse in the loft space of our house (which is the same age as the Seven !). These days the "red" and "blue" poison available to the public seems pretty ineffectual. Ultrasonics made no noticeable difference. Pre-baited plastic traps are very effective, they seem to be dosed with something irresistible (to mice) that looks like marmite. Best to fix the traps to a small square of wood, so that they don't get dragged away....
