This week I renewed my A7 insurance with RH; the premium has increased by around 10% since last year, which made me sigh briefly but didn't seem outrageous. It's still a good price to insure three vehicles & with breakdown cover thrown in. My renewal was dealt with courteously & professionally.
Today I received a renewal letter for my "modern" (2001) car from Direct Line. They have hiked my premium by 40% since last year with no clear reason. I made an attempt to negotiate but spent 15 minutes swearing at a computerised voice & enduring pop music before being put through to someone in India, who insisted that was the best price they could do, and who promised I'd get a call back from her manager (which never came). I got a price for TPF&T cover which was still 30% more than last year's fully comp premium. I picked up the 'phone to RH and they (again, courteously and professionally) offered me fully comp insurance for a little less than DL's TPF&T quote. It's still a rise on last year, but as they are throwing in Europe-wide breakdown cover I can cancel my RAC policy and win all round.
RH gets a thumbs-up from me...
