Thank you for your prompt replies, the present owner of the garage is the son of the previous owner and recalls playing around the garage as a child and yet has no recollection as to how long the Austin 7 engine has been there. I originally went to the garage to buy a 1930s Armstrong Siddeley preselect gearbox ! A definite case of serendipity.
