The Oxford English certainly agrees with Steve/Barry that a replica can only be produced by the original manufacturer.
Hmm, but then what if that company is sold to another and then that company with the same name makes another? It then has little to do with the person/people who made the original. Is it then a replica or does it become a copy?
Either way that second one says it is a struggle for the current owner at 5ft 5, so at 6ft 3 I might need 2, an original and a replica/copy, one for each foot...
In some parts of the old-car world it is neither replica nor copy, it's an original! Maybe given the title of Sanction Two, or continuation, or similar, but replica or copy - no sir! Just look at all the AC Cobras which continue to emanate from factories which have a marginal claim to descendancy from either AC Cars or Shelby International... or the new lightweight Jaguar E-Types for the matter.
