I find that 140 grade oil in my (vintage albeit) steering box leads to 140 grade oil on the garage floor shortly afterwards. I don't think the felt seal is good enough, even when I've replaced it.
I tend to use MS3 or whatever Moly grease I can get hold of on the basis that the MoS2 provides lubrication even under very high squeezing pressure, i.e. between the gears.
