As someone who spent a career making films, the photograph depicting the car with the lake in the bg is clearly hand tinted. An excellent job by the way. But may not depict the actual color of the car. Depending on the filters that may have used, as well as the stock, the translation to black and white can vary dramatically with monochromatic films. In the early days, using a heavy orange filter, such as an 80A, would render the lips almost milk white.
