Half shaft welding

Hi All

Thanks for the responses.

I realise that the welding would be specialised and fully expected the need for preheat and controlled cooling.  

I could probably investigate whether local welders were up to it but as it happens I have a number of long shafts that could be shortened.  So I’ll probably take that route. As Dave Mann suggests old half shafts are a useful material source.
