Graham - My suggestion to you would be to make a plywood template and test fit it - then to the windscreen shop.
A plain glass screen is now not legal for reasons of sense.
A Laminated screen is good, but on an opening window with a flimsy frame like on the RP a toughened screen is much better because it is much much stronger.
My car had toughened fitted from new and is still in the car.
Technically the screen should now have a kite mark on it. This is not difficult to organise.
