I found that it took a while to get the battery fully charged enough to see the charge rate drop as I described it. After that, everything has been fine.. Even with your experience, I wouldn't have any concerns. We all have a fear of high rates of charge, but that's because we are conditioned to be worried about melting of the solder in a conventional dynamo. I don't think that will happen with the Dynamator. And the charge rate not changing when you put the headlights on is expected behaviour of an alternator as it just increases the output to match the current draw...
