Went over to Neil’s to help him tighten up his flywheel using Ruaridh’s clever
gadget and then wriggle his engine( with a blind spline) back onto the gearbox.
Both pleased and happy pensioners!
Spent the morning after refitting my radiator and checking all the nuts and bolts at the front of the car.
Discovered I needed a new large radius arm nut which came next day from Jamie at the A7 Workshop.
Plus finally tabbed over the washers on the shackles!
Remade one of the bonnet fastener loops and replaced the detachable floor plate on the drivers side,
Plus refitted the petrol tank( which seems to have developed a minuscule petrol leak near the tap.
Will need to get some slosh sealant soon.
Bonnet still to be refitted as I’ve lost the front bonnet pin support.
Ordered another from Vintage Car Parts.
Also fitted the door check fixings but still to make the leather straps. I’ve got some carpet material so will need to make some templates first.
Some progress on tonneau making, both sides cut out and ready for initial sewing.
But first I need to learn how to thread up the big sewing machine! and fill some spools!
Can’t find a manual anywhere in the Internet for this particular Necchi model 802.
There’s a sewing machine repair guy in the next town so will pay him a visit on Monday
with photos of the machine. It’s a two man lift so I can’t take to him!
Hope to be basically road worthy by the end of this week.( must check brake light)
I know the indicators and sidelights are fine.
Not a lot of time to road test before Guildtown the following weekend!!
Intrigued by Ruairidh’s mention of a Gordon England Exhibition Tent!!
A good chance perhaps to see some unique GE photos I hope ?
Plus get some ideas about hoods and sidescreens.
Regards
