Charles,
I made a key to undo the nut. Then had the slot welded up with rods for dissimilar metals. Then milled a new slot with a single point tool.
Then finally turned down a 5/16" BSF ht set screw to fit the slot.
When you assemble put the nut in with bearing fit and set it where it is free with no play.
It transforms the box making it like new.
