Ruairidh, I allowed for about 4" suspension travel when i ordered the springs so I'm hoping that with new stiff springs and the shock absorbers cranked up tight I'll get away with it. I've also relieved the body a bit along the inside where the springs are.
Bill, the fish tail I think is supposed to keep the noise down but I'm not sure if it makes much difference, its mainly there because I think it looks nice. My pipe is 1 1/2 diameter so not very standard either.
The elegant lines of a Cup come at a price as there's very little space around the engine compared to factory models which makes working on them a real pain. Mine has a tubular exhaust manifold with the flange under the passenger toe board which means that you have to take the exhaust studs out completely to get it off and you also need double jointed fingers to do the bolts up. I have added a little hatch through the side valence to get at the updraft carburettor without burning my arms on the exhaust. Its all ok if your car doesn't need to be adjusted or come apart too often!
