Switching from 6V to 12V, voltage regulator?!
#17
HI COLIN,
Not sure why we are putting names in capitals but I will go with the flow. Chris KC, Zetomagneto and I, sorry if I missed anyone, were simply providing the information informing Emmanuel that he need not spend a not insubstantial amount of money on a starter motor. Your post appeared, and perhaps I am wrong here, appeared to be saying ignore this and fit what ever starter you want. Now I quite agree people can do what ever floats their boat to their own car and said as much, so not sure what the issue is, as you said this is an open forum and we need balance. I thought we were providing that balance as there had already been information on the expensive alternatives to the original starter. I am playing devils advocate again and asking WHY? Why when the std unit is perfectly serviceable and adequate for the job even with high CR. Perhaps I am just not getting the point of seven ownership anyway, I like old cars because they are just that OLD! I like building specials but IN-PERIOD SPECIALS for me that is the whole point, otherwise I would be keen on kit cars or hot rods not Austin sevens, but then perhaps I am just an oddball and out of step with the A7 community at large.
