Reverse Idler Gear

I suggest that with teeth looking like that you actually need a new selector spring. If that proves to be the case it is probably worth replacing all the selector springs and balls. They are not expensive. It looks to me as though the wear on the edge of those teeth is the result of it dropping out of gear, rather than it being the cause.
