Bore honing
#11
In the days when reboring was very common, rigid hones with coarse stones were sometimes used for the total rebore. My father knew a mechanic who used to do home rebores that way (using employers eqpt!) He used to tell the story of stopping for a cuppa then returning and doing a cylinder a second time!

Incidentally, because of the detritus, ring makers ACL and DANA are both so wary of any honing in situ that they recommend better to omit.

With care and time and regular checking of dimensiosn a careful amateur can do things with the cheaply available spring hones but devour stones.
