Thanks for all that and the photos. Howard, your right about keeping the lever at the top but you can fit the N/S vent on the O/S and it opens the wrong way so I was just checking. Thanks for the photo David, rubber does what I thought with a clip the same as at the bottom of the rad rubbber. Having done the 65 a few years back I knew it had a curved plate at the bottom and was just checking to make sure it didn't do the same on the RN. Interesting that the cut out in the photos from David and Rory show the same orientation, mine is fitted higher up and turned through 90 degrees so I might have to change that, a bit pedantic I know.
I've got another question about the exhaust down pipe, according the the various parts books the exhaust system is the same as on earlier cars passing through the chassis cross member with only a short tailpipe exiting in front of the rear wheel. Am I right in thinking this changed in the later cars with 4 speed crash boxes, the down pipe going below the cross member and a long tail pipe right to the rear?
