Today I have continued the Chummy's annual clean, we are on week 2 of this process. The paint was applied 100 years ago as the original owner had it coach painted Indian Red from new. It gets washed, with nothing more than water, then gets 2 coats of the finest quality boiled linseed oil, a week apart, while waiting for this to dry, I have also coated the whole underside with Fluid Film, as it is lanolin based and solvent free, it should not do any harm to the original paint underneath. This laborious process gives enough protection all over that I do not worry too much about using it sparingly during the winter months, it also gives the paint a nice sheen.
