Andrew, yes the LED rear and brake lights are very bright, they are not individual lights but are light boards each lamp has dozens of individual LED’s filling the whole lamp. I feel happier with these than with the old bulbs.
I understand your comment re numpty’s sitting on your tail, but that happens driving with or without the slow vehicle sign. What I believe it does do is add something extra that hopefully increases the visibility of the car, as mentioned by others using reflective spare wheel covers.
Perhaps it’s an age thing but irrespective of whether driving the modern the MGF or Ruby, I always drive as if everyone else on the road is an idiot.
I was an engineer in my working days designing static equipment for the petro-chemical industry but this was always boom and bust, during one overly extended bust period I took my HGV license and spent a year driving rigids to earn a crust, so I have seen a few things but I really do believe the standard on the roads today is getting worse by the day.
