Ruby ignition coil
#1
My coil is showing a small oil leak on the top.
Coil is mounted vertically
Still using 6 volt electrics
Prices range from about £18 to £45
I like the look of a Remax advertised by Green Spark company
Any thoughts or recommendations
Regards

Someone may correct me if I am wrong but I seem to recall reading that the Remax of today is not the same as Remax of a few years ago.

Would you believe it "Her who must be obeyed" refers to my Ruby as the toy.

From the little I found the Remax products were recently started to fill the often faulty products now in circulation

If you can find one of these at 6v

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156033519181

I can highly recommend them. This one is too expensive, I think, I'd pay half that perhaps (but there again, I am frugal) but I have one on the Box that has been in place for the last 50 years and one on the Cabriolet that has been there for 25. Always a risk buying second hand, of course, so getting some guarantees would be helpful...

They come up on Ebay pretty regularly...

I would be tempted to continue using the leaking coil. As the oil level drops a bit it will soon stop leaking.

See https://www.holden.co.uk/files/remax_coi...de_2_1.pdf for the remax but I've also heard that failures are common, which is why the fussy air cooled VW boys go for genuine bosch as they have the reputation for not breaking.
