Is this little piece of plated brass meant to align the door nicely when it shuts or does it really support the rear of the body when it flexes? I have the battered remains of these things on my ORT and they don't align, but my doors don't open when I'm driving (although when I first had it MOTd the examiner placed his jacking beam at the rear cross member and she opened up like a tulip in bright sunlight!)... They don’t stop the door opening. They do take some weight off the hinge although this is pretty marginal. I think they are really there to give a trimmed look to the door fitting. Mine are currently with a blacksmith for building up again as they had worn down far enough to have a nasty cutting edge. I didn’t think they would be an item available from any of our suppliers.
