Been out for a run in Ruby today, started to get a very metallic knocking noise, when starting to slow down the engine cut out. Managed to get her going but only working on 1/4 throttle and above. Manage to drive her home blue smoke pouring out , and a trickle of oil.
We are in Devon is there a specialist that could repair her nearby? EX22 area .

That sounds like one or two stuck valves to me, which aren’t difficult to sort out if you are a competent diy mechanic. I’ve just done three and it took me about four hours, start to finish.
If you can’t manage the job yourself I would ask one of the Devon club members for a recommendation.

What a fool I am, I had put 3 gallons of evil diesel into her by mistake. I realised the next morning, and have now drained the tank flushed through some petrol and she runs like a dream. Can't believe that it drove home 5 miles mostly running on D.
thanx for your help Nick

Quite easily done and in the end a good result!
