Hi all,

Anyone know what the purpose of the rod is? I thought it was a mod just on ours, however have noticed it on at least 1 other genuine top. I thought possibly something to do with the choke cable?

Any ideas for the purpose? Our car was rigged post was with hand controls as the owner had lost his left leg! Always thought might have been something related to that. 

Possibly a guide for the choke cable?? Hole does look rather small though.

Have never seen one. Creative thinking………Would it be part of a gate mechanism to stop from hitting reverse when changing 1st to 2nd?

as hedd suggests.

these tops are week in this area. trying to sort a good top for a customer i cleaned 3 or 4 before i found a good one without crack.

only thing is, is what to do with the cracked ones.

my first thought, having a hole in the endof that pin. was to retain a spring.

is it common for sports gearboxes to jump out of 2nd when racing.

The dogs sent a message saying that they are not amphibians, and refuse to set foot outside the back door. I was overcome by anorak behaviour and went instead to the workshop for a little gearbox spotting.
