Thinking back forty some years, I seem to remember that the Moseley cushion in my Ruby did not have valves, it had red rubber plugs that were a push fit into a rubber tube. All had perished and gone sticky like old rubber does.

I think I will be rather perished and a bit sticky when I am 87!

As Duncan says, even if you did have to buy a complete tube to get the valve of your choice I would think you could surgically remove it and cold vulcanize it to your cushion, unless you can find an old-school tire shop that still has the valve platen attachment for their hot vulcanizer. Given the modest pressures involved it should work just fine.
