Hi,
On my 2-bearing engine it seems now to take forever (20 to 30s) of slow idling to get any oil pressure from cold even if its only been sitting overnight, making me think that the oil pump for some reason is losing its priming??? The engine has a full bypass oil filter and I can't remember if this is 'normal' or whether this is a result of recent dismantling and incorrect rebuilding...?

If you install a full bypass filter on a splash fed engine that is sited above, and has oil lines above the engine's gallery's they will drain. Sounds like in your case it would be a good idea to crank the engine over a few times in order to re fill the lines before turning on the ignition.

Ian is spot on. I had this on a special I bought.
I tried lowering the filter and had no improvement.
So I fitted a non return valve in one line. That stopped it draining back.

Hi Hedd Jones re non return valve before the oil filter, that sound like the way to go, please can you tell us how you achieved this, and where did you buy the non return valve from. Thanks. Stuart

ebay!. cut the hose. stuck it in, couple of jub clips and bingo
