If the tank is drained the corks dry out and need replacing, so after draining the tank for winter storage I pour a cup full of engine oil in the tank. I removed the main feed stand pipe, turned it through 180 degrees and refitted it, then the whole assembly was turned through 180 degrees to put the reserve tap in the cab. Then if I run out a swift grab of the reserve tap and I can keep going, female passengers should be warned. It's much better than stopping on a busy road with impatient traffic behind preventing you from getting out to get at the reserve tap. The more agile can adopt my method for getting out after an unexpected stoppage which is to exit by the passenger door.
