The Ruby has adjustable runners of early and late types depending on the date and style variation of the car.

That is how seat mounts are on my reasonably late RP at 196759. Was there a change before ruby? Another set of holes further forward can be drilled.
For traditional picnics in the 1950s, when vehicles were not restricted to carparks, my father used to unbolt to provide comfy camp seats.

Martin and David Prior make the woodwork for these seats.
The photos below are from a friend's very original late RN, which I believe is the same as the RP. Thanks, Ruairidh.
Yes, we do make both the seat back (to a slightly improved and strengthened design) for £95 and the base for £35.

From my memory all the RNs were wider across the back of the body than RPs, even the very late RNs with the RP type dashboard and 4-speed gearbox. Accordingly the rear seat backrest was wider in the RN.

My RP seems to be a bit of a bitsa having parts from various sources. As far as I can tell it appears to have an original RP passenger seat but a later Ruby driver's seat, which has sliding runners. Outwardly the seats look matched, it's just the underneath of the frames that are different. I'll take a couple of pics to show what I mean. Suits me, as I'm long in the leg.
Firstly, here's the passenger seat - you can see the rows of holes for the hinge bolts: (click on the thumbnails to enlarge) And this is the driver's seat, showing the adjustable runners. Hope that helps. |
