Dynamo no go
#21
Could you give me an idea of:
The speed of your drill and how long it took to start working

Is it possible to borrow a known working Dynamo to put on you car to prove that your car wiring is all ok as it is possible that your Dynamo is ok and the problem is further on in the charging circuit. I have come to this conclusion because of the motoring of your Dynamo. With another proven Dynamo you could also see how fast it motors on your battery compared to your own.

The Ruby came to me in pieces.
We saved it from being broken further.
Rebuilt engine bottom end plus cam etc.
Dynamo needed to finish engine.
No wiring on the car yet so I wanted to check the Dynamo before assembly.
Rewound armature by dynamoregulator conversions.
New old stock field coils.
So That’s the short story

Tiger,
My drill is 3000rev/min max so say 2000. I must have let it run for 3 or 4 mins. Hope it works for you.
Cheers,
Dave.

Thank Dave
My drill only 1500 rpm max
But advice was 1000 or so.
I will seek faster drill.
If this fails looking for the nearest cliff

Tiger,
Reversing John's suggestion of putting a working dynamo on your car, can you put your dynamo on another car?

A little ambiguous there Dave!

When you had the rewound armature by dynamoregulator conversions did you get them to check the assembly ?.

I presume the dynamo is now operational.
