With a 4 speed engine, clutch and gearbox the selector springs can be changed in situ, with great care, but the engine and gearbox have to be split and moved apart for the selector bar to move far enough forward to get the ball and spring out, Ruairidh knows how it's done. With a 3 speed engine, clutch and 4 speed box the selector springs can be replaced without splitting the engine and box, the clutch cover plate ID is bigger allowing the selector bar to move far enough forward. Drain the gearbox first, take your time and make sure there are no distractions about.
