What have you done today with your Austin Seven
Excellent.

Not today, admittedly, but a couple of days ago, I collected my engine from being tested on a dyno back in the summer. I was happy with 21bhp.

A brisk and cold drive to Grantown, ahead of the impending storm.

My fingers were tingling when I got back.

About 15, from where we are staying, each way.

I was looking forward to getting the RP out again tomorrow to ring in the New Year but we had a really heavy frost last night (-4°C) and the main road through the valley has been salted, so that's put the mockers on it. More frost again tonight. I guess it's the price you pay for clear skies in mid winter down here. Happy Hogmanay everyone.

View out of my office window as I type...

Took 3 of my grandchildren to a soft play (20 miles away), to celebrate my fourth grandchild's 1st birthday. We went in Dingo (1930 Chummy), hood down as always. Kids loved it, and so did I.

Intended to go to Vintage Stony tomorrow, in the Special. I knew it was most likely to be rubbish weather, but I was ok with that. Unfortunately, the forecast is so bad, the organisers have postponed it. A big loss to local businesses, charities, and the classic car owners that love to start the year with a trip to Stony Stratford.

Hi Everyone,
Today I managed to modify a rear main bearing cover to take a high speed lip seal then fitted it and installed it on the 9E crankcase.
I had a fun game of hunting an oil thrower ! I found a new old stock one in a bag with a load of engine lock washers which I had hidden from myself.
Next year I will get on and finish the final assembly.
This is a 9E engine which I have been assembling parts for for a number of years.
The only original parts left are the oil pump top bearing and rear camshaft bearing everything else inside is brand new.
Once its all running it will outlast me.
The current installed mongrel engine has been in use for over 25 years
Happy New Year.

Having replaced the metric rear main bearing lip seal with imperial one I took the car for a test drive going round all the local places that are prone to flooding and sure enough I found 5 abandoned cars in flood water which had been practicing being submarines.     Never a drop passed the new lip seal.

Presumably if their flashing screens and disembodied voices had failed to tell them not to proceed into the flood, they just kept going.
