Rear Lamp Identification
#1
Arriving back from a local trip the other day, I discovered that one of my rear lamp bodies had fallen off. It would be nice to source a matching lamp rather that spend a small fortune replacing both of them. However, I can find no identifying marks on them. Anybody recognise them? A bizarre question I know, but any help would be appreciated.

The bodies are brass and the outer bit screws into the bulb holder.

I have something which looks the same in a box of bits in the loft, albeit it's steel and missing its lens. Can you measure the diameter and length of yours and if this is suitable you can have it. Your next problem would be where to find a lens...

As you note normally a very expensive Lucas AT201L- or reproduction slightly less expensive.

288A: Rear lamp equivalent to Lucas L582 model with glass prismatic lens - Indicators - Lamps - Classic Car Parts | Complete Automobilist

Chummy has a reproduction with an original glass lens fitted back when I obviously felt rich !

Thank you Peter.

The dimensions are:-
Diameter 1.776 ins (45.1mm)
Length 1.56 ins. (39.7mm)
Thread pitch 1 mm

I suspect, given these dimensions, that they are of foreign manufacture.

I attach photos of the cover that didn’t fall off!

I don’t think the lens will be too much of a problem. I have a couple of bicycle reflectors that may be cannibalised for a suitable prismatic lens.

If you can help, I would be most grateful.

Sorry to disappoint but the one I have here is smaller in diameter and slightly longer ... and I only have one! I shall return it to the loft.

Good morning. There’s a lamp similar to yours currently listed on eBay. It’s listed as ‘Vintage rear lamp and number plate light Rolls-Royce.’
Unfortunately I’m not able to post a link.

Some people have a funny idea for 'as new' - split in the rim and a replacement bulb-holder!

I have to agree with you Mike, where do these clowns come from?
