I recently purchased a Woodford L-021 1300kg trailer and it's excellent in all respects, except for the fact that it won't fit in my workshop... It is 4 inches too wide. Yes, I know, I should have measured etc etc. Don't give me grief, Debs has already done that.

So I shall be moving it on in the near future. By all means let me know if you want one.

What I would like to find to replace it is a mainstream manufacturer's single-axle, braked trailer (e.g. Brian James, Woodford, Lider, Ifor Williams) that is as compact as possible, capable of carrying any kind of Austin Seven.

Dos anyone have recommendations of specific models to consider please?

We use an Ifor Williams CT115 and are very pleased with it. We needed to accommodate A7’s and Sally’s Abarth 595. It is 1400 kg gross. You can probably find dimensions on the internet, if not, I’ll measure ours in the daylight tomorrow.

Hi Nick. We use a Brian James"Bantam", single axle trailer with our motorhome to tow our Ruby, the trailer tow's very well. S&P

Brian James Minno trailers were available in narrow widths. Not made any more alas, but they do turn up secondhand. We have one so I'll check the actual overall width in the daylight tomorrow. They did make them with different bed sizes, so do take your tape measure this time.
Personally I would avoid a single axle trailer. I had a tyre fail on one some years ago....never again.

Always best to check dimensions before dipping into one's pocket. I remember a salutory lesson learned by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue when they moved into what was then the new fire station in Sheffield City Centre. When the first crews arrived one asked "Which idiot designed the doors?" to which  some puffed chest local authority Colonel Blimp retorted - "easy one that, we just took the measurements from the old station at West Bar!"

"You numpty" was the reply. "We can't get an engine in or out of West Bar without having to fold the mirrors in, you plonker!"

West Bar fire station was built in 1897 when all they had was a horse drawn pump....

The "state of the art" fire station on Charter Row has been recently demolished... West Bar still stands and is now a museum.

Nick, you need to actually tell us how wide it is to the nearest 1/4 ".

I just bought a used Woodford at 6'11" wide to fit my 7' garage, tight, but it fits !!!!!

This is a very compact one they made for a Chummy. I had a very similar one made, slightly wider and longer to carry a Ruby and an Ulster with the bodies of both not overhanging the trailer's rear. The only downside to this design is the lift-off, swing-round and clip-in-place ramp system. Oh, and the number plate, which is too low and should be mounted on detachable raiser posts.

My small Brian James is still available. It has the folding draw bar. I have been in no rush to sell it, but it's got to go sometime!

single axle, Braked. Serviced, tyres newish for the centenary. led lights. Tows nicely when the diesel injectors don't pack up on the tow car... Width 2.1m at the widest, but that reduces slightly if you remove the plastic arches. The bed is 1.65m wide with a central gap 0.8m wide.
It weighs 300kg with a maximum load of 1000kg... 1300kg total.The bed is 2.92m plus a 170mm rear overhang (bolt on extension by BJ) making it 3.09 total. There's a 60mm thick beam at the front and the draw bar is 1.24m long. The overall length is 4.39m with the draw bar horizontal, but 3.4m with it folded up for storage and the rear extensions can be removed to reduce the length by 170mm if space is tight.
