No, mine was a reference to an actual DKW - more making the point that visibility depends on what is around and behind you.

I bought these high vis signs for the Eurotour in 2022 and will again use them on our trip north in a couple of days time.
They were not expensive and are fully magnetic and readily available on the internet.
Along with the LED lights the look bright in poor lighting conditions.
I always remove them when we've finished for the day

My longest-standing pal (we met a few years ago, when we were six) came today to join me and the Chummy at the Shuttleworth 'Best of British' show in Bedfordshire. 

He arrived in a new red Toyota hybrid - a change from the three black ones that preceded it. I asked why he had changed the colour and he explained that each of the black ones had been hit by another car - each driver claiming they 'did not see' him.

I asked if the colour change had been a success. He said it had not. Within a short time of them getting the red car a badger made a determined suicide attempt and removed the inner wheel arch lining of the red one.

I said he should get an Austin Seven...any colour.

We have a Model A Special painted a very bright yellow and LED tail lights. This makes the car very visible from some distance, but it didn't stop a distracted driver of a modern, run into it at traffic lights. Our A7 special under construction is cream and will also have LED lights, but then it is also likely to be a little slower than the Model A and something of a worry when forced to use motorways.

I don’t think the brightest lights and colours will be enough for some dozy drivers…I’ve mentioned it before, but I drive my Seven like I ride my motor cycle and that is defensively, in the belief that every other driver is out to kill me!

Yes that is bright enough, and it's a lovely colour, it looks great for a van. I'm not sure about a saloon in that colour.

As for on a motorway................. Don't think I would ever choose to take a seven on a motorway. If I had to, then I'd want 3 or 4 large bright flashing orange lights across the back.

Around town and on country roads I would expect this slow vehicle sign to make drivers all the more keen to get past. In a modern car I find traffic behind is content with me going at 22 mph in town, and 35 on country lanes. In the 7 they hug too close behind and eventually overtake. I'm told that the led brake lights on the 7 are very bright!

In the 1970s bright yellow was no good in the Manitoba wheat fields around harvest time. Red was the best also in snow and headlights on at all times. Our dark blue mini was lost in the summer heat mirage without full headlights on.

Andrew, yes the LED rear and brake lights are very bright, they are not individual lights but are light boards each lamp has dozens of individual LED’s filling the whole lamp. I feel happier with these than with the old bulbs.
I understand your comment re numpty’s sitting on your tail, but that happens driving with or without the slow vehicle sign. What I believe it does do is add something extra that hopefully increases the visibility of the car, as mentioned by others using reflective spare wheel covers.
Perhaps it’s an age thing but irrespective of whether driving the modern the MGF or Ruby, I always drive as if everyone else on the road is an idiot.
I was an engineer in my working days designing static equipment for the petro-chemical industry but this was always boom and bust, during one overly extended bust period I took my HGV license and spent a year driving rigids to earn a crust, so I have seen a few things but I really do believe the standard on the roads today is getting worse by the day.
