Good quality (e.g. NKE, RHP, etc) main bearings are available from Cherished Suppliers such as A7 Components and the Seven Workshop. Originally the front bearings were a ball and a roller bearing, but many people now use a pair of angular contact bearings.
It seems that my A7 has a DK4A distributor fitted. Although it's a later distributor and not for my model series, should I keep using it or go in for a correct distributor?

So we've taken the tub off the chassis.
It's not a pretty picture at all. The tub has been worked on so many times and so crudely in the past, it has become weak and there's nothing much original left to work on, save for the central tunnel.
I've taken a decision to make a new tub, faithful to the old tourer body. We can use the old fenders, the dash panel and the bonnet, everything else will have to be made.
The chassis itself is straight, but with minor damage from ham-fisted mechanics, all fixable.
If someone has photos of a rebuild of a swb tourer or box, please let me know; it would be a useful guide for us.
Some photos are attached from dismantling this past weekend.
