I can only send sympathy and support from another bent Ruby owner. Let’s hope it’s just the two of us, and there won’t be any more in the near future. If you are younger and more athletic than me, mechanical repairs will be no great problem. You may have noticed that BFJ stayed in the Austin family, and recovery is well under way. Body parts can be difficult to find, everything else easy. When a certain competitor returns from Forrestburn, victor’s wreath on his shoulders and beard sprayed with Irn Bru on the winner’s podium, he could put you together an entire kit.
Talking of trialling, one can note that the front suspension can easily cope with ruts, bumps and the sides of quarries, but was never designed for the lateral impact that a couple of us have recently endured.

Sorry to hear about the accident, Andrew.  The fast one way systems in our towns and cities are my least favourite roads (I ignore motorways completely), I would rather be on Kirkstone Pass or Park Rash.
I would take up R's kind offer and look forward to seeing Ruby back on the road.

What rotten luck, Andrew! I trust you and any passengers were OK. Don't let the insurance assessor write the car off. Nowadays they are used to modern cars that are designed to crumple up and don't understand that prewar cars are a bit like Meccano: everything bolts on and off. When it comes to repairing the Ruby, I am sure that you will get plenty of support, either practically (as Ruairidh Has already offered) with the necessary bits and pieces or sympathetically.

I’m so sorry to see poor old HV looking battered, but as everyone as said, very few Sevens are ever beyond repair…contrary to what others have suggested, I would be tempted to get the car in the shed right away and strip off all the damaged parts, so it doesn’t look quite so sad and then step back from it until you are in the mood for some repair work.
