I spoke to a really nice person, she advised that she had to take all my details again as they were on a new system - it took over 35mins to get the quotation. The car is garaged and mileage only 1500 miles per year, no legal cover or any frills and it came out at £230 as opposed to £104. Absolutely no way I will be paying an increase of that amount. She said it was down to Covid and the war, how exactly that relates to risk of me driving less than 1500 miles per year in a vintage car is beyond me.
Time to shop elsewhere

Belinni,
You need to speak to or email Emma Airey - she's the head of RH - see posts nos. 6 and 10 on this thread.

Hi Paul,
It was good to speak to you this evening. As discussed, I am really sorry that RH was unable to offer competitive terms on this occasion.
Whilst we are still broadly competitive for the majority of Austin Seven risks presented, we are aware of a few cases where we appear to be uncompetitive - and I'm sorry yours was one of these
Please keep in touch and don't hesitate to contact me direct in 2024 if you would like us to requote.
Kind regards,
Emma

I have just renewed my policy for 2 Sevens with RH and surprised to see it dropped by £2 from last year. Very long wait on the phone to get through and a long time spent talking to a very nice chap who insisted on going through all the details for the cars. Presumably putting them on the new system. The whole exercise took nearly an hour.

I had to make a succession of calls in an attempt to renew and there seemed to be problems at every turn. Eventually I mentioned a conversation I'd previously had with Emma and it was all sorted out very quickly. A 50% increase over last year's premium but as I hadn't shopped around I accepted it.
Thank goodness for Emma's advocacy and interest in our needs.

I also had to speak to Emma, to ensure my renewal was completed on time, Emma was very helpful, calling me back three times.to ensure the policy was renewed on time. Costs have increased by 33%, but I have increased the insured value of my two cars. However, a dissapointment was the removal of " any driver over 25years of age" with owners permission. I also left it too late to get alternative quotations

Just to redress the balance a little. When, just before Chrismas, I realized that I had not recieved a renewal I 'phoned R.H.
The 'phone was answered promptly, (by a real person!) who assured me that an e-mail had been sent on such and such a date, which I don't dought, he had all my details to hand, and in less than ten minuits from picking up the 'phone I was insured at much the same price as last year.
Incidentally for the past forty or more years my day to day vehicles have been insured via A Plan, also with excelent service. Let us hope that this is all a temporary hitch.
Cliff.

I emailed Emma and she responded while I was away in London to say my renewal had already been posted. I returned home this evening and there it was!
Just a few quid more than last year, but with all the features of the policy, I can’t complain, so I’ll be renewing.

I thought my last phone call with RH had got it sorted. Today the paperwork arrived, but somehow they had recorded that I have Crohn's disease. I had told them of a medical procedure I underwent last year, but I never mentioned Crohn's disease!
