I’m another fan of nylocs and the only time I use washers in this application his if I need to add a little mass for balancing purposes. I do however agree with Steve on the hermetite issue.

Part of one of Malcolm's old boards was, of course, the source of the material I've used between body and chassis
Hermatite and the other various jointing compounds are fine if used correctly. If they'd have been available in the 1920's and 30's I'm sure Austin would have used them just as modern manufacturers use them today.

We stock a close cell neophrene rubber strip, that is adhesive on one side - I have found this to be very good and keeps the water away from the chassis. sold in a 5M roll so will do a few cars!
