Rear Springs - packing plates
#31
Thanks R
Yes, I definitely remember that they had a step, one fitted from each side. Ian prefitted and reamed them for me as I didn't have the right sized reamer at the time. I remember one fell out whilst I was fitting the spring, which is why I know for certain they were the type you have linked to. I think it is just the face-on angle of the picture that suggests they are parallel and flat to the spring face.
Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think!

I solved the dilemma of packing pieces - my new springs are 1/4" taller than the old ones so fit at treat. I won't say the first one has gone in easy, but it has gone in.

Thanks for your help

I want to bring up the subject again of replacing rear springs on my Mk1 Ruby. Does one have to cut a hole in the flooring to gain access to the large bolt and u-bolt before the spring can be removed? I know of the difficulty in removing the spring due to it being in the chassis for 89years. Many thanks.

You don’t need to remove the U Bolts, but you will need to remove the spring bolt and a hole will be required for that.
